After winning Bjørnafjorden municipality's recent competition, Os Turnforening is excited to introduce Os Sauna—a floating sauna located in Osøyro. This initiative is rooted in a vision to improve the well-being of the local community and wants to function as more than just a place of recreation; it is a resource for public health and an inclusive social meeting place.
We use dynamic pricing that takes into account both time and firewood consumption. In the morning, the sauna is likely to be cold, which means that you will spend both more time and more wood on heating. Therefore, the early hours are priced lower as a compensation for this extra effort. You can either bring your own firewood or buy from us. Over the course of the day, when the sauna has probably achieved a stable base heat, the price will be adjusted upwards, but you will use less time and wood in return.
Os Sauna welcomes you every day from 06:00 to 21:00, offering a fully self-service experience. Choose a time that harmonizes with your daily schedule; each sauna session lasts at least two hours. This time frame also includes the time required to heat up the sauna.

Are there shower and changing facilities available?Os Sauna offers a simple and authentic experience with a changing room and access to clean, fresh sea water. There are no shower facilities available. Norway has some of the worlds most clean seawater.

How do I proceed to reserve a sauna session?To reserve a session, navigate to our booking calendar on the front page of the website. Choose the session that suits you best and click "Book". You will then be asked to fill out a form and complete the payment. After payment, you will receive a code and further information from us.

Is Os Sauna available for groups or private events?To have the sauna all to yourself, you must book all 12 available places (Please note that if there are less than 12 slots avaliable, someone has already booked for that session).

Is firewood included in the price?No, firewood is not included. You have the choice between bringing your own firewood or buying from us ahead of your sauna session. Link for wood purchase can be found here.

I have completed an order but did not receive the code. What should I do?First of all, check your spam folder as the code may have ended up there. If you still can't find it, please contact us via the chat on the website and we will immediately send you a new code.

What is the age limit for using Os Sauna?The sauna can be used alone by people aged 16 and over. Persons under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.

Is the sauna hot when I arrive?No, the sauna is self-service and it is your responsibility to heat it up. This helps to keep costs down, and makes Os Sauna one of the most affordable options in Western Norway.

How does the locking system work?After booking, you will receive a unique key code, by email, which allows you to open the Igloohome keybox 3 - which hangs by the sauna door. Inside the key box you will find the key to the padlock.

What is Os Turnforening's role in Os Sauna?Os Turnforening, a non-profit organisation, owns and operates Os Sauna. The profit from the project is used to improve the sporting and leisure activities we offer in Os.

How was the Os Sauna project started?Os Sauna was initiated after Os Turnforening won a competition announced by the municipality in July 2023. We won with our vision of a low-threshold, affordable and architecturally remarkable sauna, built with local labor and local raw materials.

How long does a sauna session last?A standard sauna session lasts two hours, including the time for heating.

Do I have to clean the sauna after use?In line with our rules of use, the sauna must be left in the condition in which you found it. We offer green soap and a squeegee for easy cleaning. Please mop the water on the floor out the front door and wash over the benches.

Os Sauna + Havnesjefen
Sauna + suppe og/eller varm sjokolade! Vi har inngått samarbeid med Havnesjefen som holder til midt på Osøyro. Alle som har billett til Os Sauna kan, på vei til eller fra sauna, få suppe eller varm drikke til sterkt reduserte priser.
Sauna-tilbud: Dagens suppe inkl mineralvann, kaffi eller te kr 200.
Heimelaga varm sjokolade med krem kr 40.
Havnesjefen sine åpningstider er:
Mandag til torsdag 11 til 22
Fredag 11- 00
Lørdag 12 - 00
Søndag 13 - 21
Dersom du er del av en gruppe (minst 5 personer) som skal i sauna fra 19 til 21, og vil ha en rask suppe på vei heim, så kan Havnesjefen holde åpent til kl 22 (mandag til torsdag) og kl. 21 (søndag). I så fall må dette avtales på forhånd på telefon 980 54 210 (Frank).

The project springs from our vision, in Os Turnforening, to create an inclusive low-threshold offer of high quality. By winning the municipality's competition, we have been given the opportunity to make this dream a reality.
In a time characterized by busyness and individualism, we want to offer a breathing space where people can gather for relaxation, reflection and meaningful togetherness. We hope Os Sauna can become a place for interpersonal immersion, in the midst of the everyday hustle and bustle.
